R.A.D Program

The Longmeadow Police Department is proud to offer R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense system) training.

RAD InstructorsFour of our officers are R.A.D. Certified Instructors and we provide the training approximately twice per year. The R.A.D. Systems of Self-Defense are the official self-defense programs of the National Academy of Defense Education. This is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women.

The R.A.D System is a comprehensive, women only course, that begins with risk awareness, assessment, recognition, and avoidance, while progressing into the basics of hands-on self-defense.  During the typical course lecture, audio and visual aids are mixed with stretching, warm-ups, and hands-on demonstrations and exercises.  Each class repeats the previous drills and progresses to the next phase of defense. The R.A.D. Systems is not a Martial Arts program.

We will post available classes when scheduling is determined.
