Longmeadow Youth Basketball Association

The Longmeadow Youth Basketball Association (LYBA) is a non-profit, volunteer organization committed to providing every child an opportunity to learn the game, improve their basketball skills, and play in games that are safe and fun.  Our programs serve children in Grade 1-8.  LYBA offers two distinct programs:
  • A Recreation program for boys and girls in Grades 1-8, in which everyone makes the team.
    • In Grades 1 & 2 the program is primarily instructional in nature.  Specifically, during each one hour Saturday morning session, participating children receive 30 minutes of basic basketball fundamentals (e.g. dribbling, passing, shooting), followed by a thirty (30) minute scrimmage vs. another 1st-2nd grade team.
    • In 3rd through 8th grade, each team has one practice and one game per week with an official referee at each game.
  • LYBA also offers an optional Travel Program for Boys-Grades 5-8 and Girls Grades 5-8.  Travel teams are generally more competitive in nature and require a greater time commitment.  Longmeadow teams play in the Suburban League against Travel Teams from surrounding communities.  There is an additional player fee & uniform deposit in addition to the standard LYBA registration fee. Travel team players are selected through a tryout process in which LYBA utilizes independent evaluators.

Fees

All LYBA registration fees will be posted on the Longmeadow Youth Basketball Associate website. More details will be available on-line & during the registration process.  Anyone interested in coaching should sign up during registration.
