MUNICIPAL INSPECTION PROGRAM CONTINUES
November 28, 2022
Representatives from KRT Appraisal are continuing to inspect homes with KRT assisting in the town wide “measure and list”. This involves the inspection of all properties in order to check the accuracy of data and is required by the Department of Revenue at least every nine years. The last time all properties were inspected was in 2014. KRT is continuing with Precinct E in 2022 and 2023.
Please check the Town website, longmeadowma.gov, for any updates or changes to the schedule. The data collectors or “listers” will carry photo identification. Their names along with a description of their cars and license plate numbers will be on file with the Police Department (567-3311) and the Assessors’ Office (565-4115).
All residential and commercial properties will be visited to physically inspect and measure a building’s interior and exterior. Building characteristics such as location, size, age, quality of construction, improvements, topography, utilities, applicable zoning restrictions, etc. are noted. To ensure a home is inspected, a homeowner must sign a data collection form to verify the inspection. The entire process takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Listers generally work between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and an occasional weekend. Two separate attempts are usually made to enter a property. If no one is home on those occasions, a letter will be sent to homeowners to call and schedule an appointment at their convenience.
